I’ll be going to a spring celebration party next week and I need some advice for my makeup that night. I’ll be wearing a aqua/blue/white/black patterned sundress and I want to have a casual beachy surfer type of makeover but the makeup still has to be dramatic enough to stand out during the night. I’ll be wearing my hair down for an artfully casual look.
To give you an idea, this is sorta what my dress looks like except that mine goes all the way down to my ankles and is loose and flowy. I’ll be pairing the dress with a wide black belt at the waist. I’m thinking of some dark black eyeliner to really make my eyes pop but sticking with some bronzer or a neutral tone for my blush and eyeshadow. I’m trying to achieve a sunkissed “California girl” type of look and don’t want to look too done up!
For any woman who’s over 25, one annoying and nagging problem is puffy eyes and dark circles in the morning. Most of the time it’s due to bruising from lack of sleep or natural aging since our face is one of the first places to lose that chubby fat that keeps us looking young. The loss of this extra layer of fat means our face looks gaunt and sharper and thus more likely to show off imperfections like puffy eyes. Some good tips to get rid of this swelling is preparation H cream and caffeine from concentrated coffee or serums. Caffeine causes blood vessels to constrict and will get rid of fluid retention in the area.
Q: Can I Dye My Own Eyebrows With Hair Dye?
A: Yes! You can use your normal hair dye to color your eyebrows. Just make sure to make the dye mixture extra thick so it doesn’t drip into your eyes. There will be a bit of stinging on your skin like with normal hair dye, but this is normal. You should not feel any pain in your eyes. If you do, then your dye is giving off some pretty nasty fumes and you should find a gentler dye.
Q: Should I Color My Eyebrows?
A: This will depend on several factors. It is possible to have mismatched eyebrows that complement your hair color. However, if your hair color and eyebrow color differ dramatically, then you should dye your eyebrows so they match. For example, if you dyed your hair blonde or red but you have blond/light brown eyebrows, then this would match and look natural even though your hair and eyebrows are not the same color. However, if you have light hair and dark brown/black eyebrows, or dark brown hair and blonde eyebrows, then you really should just spend 15 minutes and color your eyebrows so that they match your hair coloring.
Q: Can I Skip Eyebrow Powder if I Dye My Brows?
A: Although it may be tempting to skip that extra step in your makeup routine, chances are even though you’ve dyed your eyebrows darker, there are still areas of sparse and patchy hair in your eyebrows. You would still need to fill these areas in with eyebrow powder or eye shadow. However, if you use an eyebrow growth product to grow thicker eyebrows, then you could skip drawing in your eyebrows every morning.
Q: Will Dyeing My Eyebrows Make Them Shed?
A: No, dyeing your eyebrows is just like dyeing the hair on your scalp. As long as you follow the instructions on the packaging, it should be perfectly safe to color your eyebrows. Do not leave the dye on longer than recommended. Since the eyebrow area is so small, it really should take at most 15 minutes for the color to take and sink in.
